Rogier Meijer’s daughter tried to comfort him after De Graafschap drew their last game [x]
It’s taken me a couple of days to figure out how I feel now, at the close of the Premier League season.
Manchester City deserved the title. They played good football and at the end of the day, we all know how the table works.
Their fans deserve to feel the ultimate joy, after 44 years of pain and hope. Those who have been there and suffered, finally get the sweet taste of satisfaction.
The players looked so overjoyed to win, and it’s hard to begrudge them their happiness. As a collective, City are hard to like. They have been assembled with a “money buys all” mentality, and that doesn’t sit well with me. However, as individuals they have done the hard work and played well enough to win the title.
Most Arsenal supporters I asked were happy to see Gael Clichy win the title. Having been at Arsenal for an extensive period, through good times and bad, he moved on with goodwill. He bears no grudge towards the club, and as far as I am aware has hardly had anything to say about AFC publicly- the way it should be.
Samir Nasri is another matter entirely.
Unfortunately, clubs don’t get extra points for integrity and players don’t get success based on if they are good people or not.
He can have his title. I’d rather be a tortured Gooner than a glory-hunting sell-out.
Trophies are nice, but are the cherry on an incredibly beautiful cake, not a core ingredient.
I don’t really like cake. But I do love Arsenal.

We will have our time.
This idea may just be what get’s me through the next year and a bit. >.<
Just got back from the latest fail of an away trip. 3 trips this season and didn’t get a single point. Regardless of the result, I always have an amazing time with the fantastic group I travel with, but in the back of my mind I can’t help but be super pissed off that MVFC haven’t risen to the occasion yet again.
Thank goodness I was drunk, otherwise I would have been so freaking upset on Saturday night. They didn’t even turn up to the game. Hundreds of MVFC fans travelled to that shithole for them, but they can’t even try. Even if there is nothing to play for in terms of finals/trophies- pride and the fans should be enough.
Lucky for them fans are here forever- unlike pride that was thrown away this season.
I don’t care if our squad isn’t up to scratch. They should try and give a shit. If they can’t play for the fans and for pride then maybe they should wake up and realise that their futures are on the line. Not that it should ever get to that, the shirt should be enough to make them play.
Maybe it’s lucky I’m missing next season. MVFC make me too sad. Wonder if the club even realise that people care so much, because the players certainly don’t.

I am by no means an optimist. If my team goes down 1-0 early in the match, I then believe we will lose 5-0. I have been known to not watch penalties because I assume they will be missed or saved. I predict red cards every match. I am, quite frankly, what could be called a “negative nancy.” (Thanks to @mishoes for that phrase).
But I am freaking excited for this weekend’s game against Sydney, and I am getting sick of people saying “but our season is over”….”what’s the point”…”blah blah fucking blah.”
We are playing Sydney, the team we hate. Since when does anything matter other than beating them?
This season has been a series of isolated moments of ecstasy among a general feeling of dispirited depression. This game may not offer MVFC much, but it does give us the opportunity to get one more win, and one more moment of intense happiness.
Even better that it comes against our arch rival, who’s finals hopes will be dented if we beat them. Anyone who says there isn’t anything to play for is obviously a nice person… because to me, a horrible and spiteful person, there is noting better than ruining the aspirations of a rival team.
So this weekend, I’m not going to think about the penalties that may be missed, or the goals we may concede. I’m going to think about beating Sydney, and I’m going to enjoy one of my last MVFC games for a while (a year and a half, sob!!), because a shit MVFC is better than no MVFC at all.
